GamingCandy Adware
What is GamingCandy?
The GamingCandy application claims to allow people to play
various regular flash games - "The GamingCandy Application allows you to
play various free games that are not accessibile unless the application is
installed." These adwares often trick users into trusting that GamingCandy
is a genuine and useful application. In fact, it is classified as adware and a
potentially not a good program (PUP). The basic reason for these negative corporations
is stealth installation - GamingCandy usually installs on computers without
users' consent. After entering the system, this PUP displays invasive online
advertisements and gathers various Internet browsing-related data.
How did GamingCandy install on my computer?
As with other various adware, GamingCandy is distributed
using a unreliable software marketing process called 'bundling' - deceptive
installation of third party applicationss together with the chosen software.
Not paying attention by some users during downloading and installation of
software makes this process very active. Many people rush the download and
installation method and skip most instructions, including the 'Custom' or
'Advanced' settings (where fake applications are usually hidden). This causes
deceptive installation of PUPs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted
applications?
Carefully consider each step of the free software download
processand make sure that only the selected software is downloaded. Furthermore,
install the downloaded appls using the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' options, rather
than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will acknowledge any third party software
listed for installation and protect you from
fake installation of various apps. The key to computer safety is
caution, and thus, you should pay more attention when downloading and
installing all software.
